Michael M. Mueller, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Professional Life: Dr. Mueller obtained his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2002. Co-founder of Southern Behavioral Group, Mike has practiced Applied Behavior Analysis with children with Autism in Home, Public School, Private School, State Residential, Group Home, Clinic, and Community Settings.
Mike is the author of 4 Books, 5 Book Chapters, and 25 Journal Articles. He has delivered more than 100 conference presentations around the United States and internationally. Mike is a Past President of the Georgia Association for Behavior Analysis and a Past Chair of the Behavioral School Psychology Interest Group of the National Association of School Psychologists. He is the 2002 recipient of the Sidney and Janet Bijou Award given by the Association for Behavior Analysis for scholarly activities in behavior analytic child development research. Dr. Mueller is on the Editorial Board of several scholarly journals in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and School Psychology including Psychology in the Schools, Behavior Modification, Journal of Early and Intensive Behavior Therapy, and the Journal of Evidence Based Practices in Schools.
Mike’s published research has involved parent training, teacher training, functional behavioral assessments in school settings, functional analysis in school settings, pediatric feeding disorders, compliance training, functional communication training, discrete trials therapy, errorless learning strategies, behavior analytic consultation to schools, behavior analytic approaches to early reading and reading comprehension, aggression, self-injury, property destruction, noncompliance, tantrums, object mouthing, hand flapping, and other behavioral challenges demonstrated by children with autism. Mike’s work has been published in prestigious field journals including the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Education and Treatment of Children, Behavioral Interventions, International Journal of Behavioral Consultation and Therapy, Psychology in the Schools, School Psychology Review, Proven Practice: Prevention and Remediation Solutions for Schools, Journal of Organizational Behavior Management, and the Behavioral School Psychology Digest.
Mike is married to Melanie, has 2 daughters, Kassidy and Kallon, and an Olde English Bulldogge named Baxter. When not helping children, Mike spends time hiking, mountain biking, camping, boating, traveling, and enjoying his family.
Ajamu Nkosi, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Dr. Ajamu Nkosi is a Co-Founder of Southern Behavioral Group in Atlanta, Georgia. He is also a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst who holds a Ph.D. degree from Temple University in Educational Psychology. Dr. Nkosi is currently an active member of several organizations devoted to upholding the professional practice of applied behavior analysis. These organizations include The American Psychological Association, The Association of Behavior Analysis, The Association for Contextual and Behavioral Science, The Georgia Association of Behavior Analysis and The Florida Association of Behavior Analysis. He is also the first recipient of the 2002 Margaret Messinger Award given by Temple University’s Department of Educational Psychology for academic excellence.
Dr. Nkosi possesses a wide-range of knowledge and training in Educational Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis. His research interests focus on learning theory, teaching and instruction, the functional assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior, and school consultation. He is the author of 3 books including the groundbreaking Behavior Analytic Consultation to Schools and has delivered numerous presentations nationally.
Currently, Dr. Nkosi provides behavior analytic consultation services to school districts in the greater Atlanta area for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. He provides services on training school personnel in the application of effective teaching and instruction, utilizing behavioral principles and procedures in the classroom, functional behavioral assessment and treatment of severe problem behaviors, and developing positive behavior support plans.
Ajamu currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Andronica and their two daughters Amadi and Assata. Ajamu spends his leisure time hanging out with his daughters, playing and listening to a wide-range of music, and reading books on Western Philosophy.
